The third and final musical to make our list, West Side Story is another unforgettable hit. Like Grease and My Fair Lady, West Side Story tells the tale of two people who fall in love despite their social differences. Caught within the violent rivalry between two street gangs, Tony (Richard Beymer) and Maria (Natalie Wood) enact a modern-day version of "Romeo and Juliet" in Manhattan. Considered one of the best movie adaptations of a musical, West Side Story received 11 Academy Award nominations and won all but one.
