In 2021, "West Side Story" entered theaters throughout the world, marking the second release of a feature-length adaptation of the 1957 stage musical of the same name. Directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Tony Kushner, the film introduces two rival gangs in New York City: the Jets, made up of young white people, and the Sharks, made up of Puerto Rican immigrants. The rivalry between the two gangs is heightened when Maria (Rachel Zegler), the younger sister of the Sharks' leader, Bernardo (David Alvarez), falls in love with one of the Jets, Tony (Ansel Elgort).

NEW YORK — Fresh off her breakthrough role in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story,” Rachel Zegler will star in Lionsgate’s planned “Hunger Games” prequel.
The studio announced Tuesday that Zegler will play Lucy Gray Baird in “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” an extension of the “Hunger Games” saga that takes place decades before the adventures of Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen. Katniss played in the 74th Hunger Games; Baird will be a part of the 10th Hunger Games.

What West Side Story's Spanish Scenes Say In English
For those wondering what the Puerto Rican characters are saying in Spanish in Spielberg’s version of West Side Stroy, here’s some help.

Several scenes in West Side Story (2021) include use of Spanish, leaving some viewers to wonder what the characters are saying in those moments. Spanish is used sporadically throughout scenes involving the prominent Puerto Rican characters of the movie. English is still the primary language used in the film, and the story can still be easily understood without knowledge of Spanish, but English-speaking audiences will likely be curious about what is being said.

She's described as a "tenacious princess who must go on a daring quest to save her family and kingdom after a mysterious spell transforms her parents into monsters and threatens to cover Lumbria in darkness forever." You know, if you're going to be a princess, it's good to be a tenacious one. They and their families always seem to be getting into scrapes.
